Free meals will no longer be available to students beginning on December 1, 2022 unless your household is eligible for a free or reduced meal price.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Since the beginning of this 2022-2023 school year, Thomaston Public Schools has been able to provide breakfast and lunch meals at no cost to all students through a grant provided by the Connecticut State Department of Education. The intent of these SMART (School Meals Assistance Revenue Transition) funds has been to assist households by providing free meals to all students for as long as funds are available. Under the SMART funds terms, Thomaston Public Schools' funding will expire on November 30, 2022. Free meals will no longer be available to students beginning on December 1, 2022 unless your household is eligible for a free or reduced meal price.

Households seeking meal price benefits must submit the Application for Free and Reduced price School Meals to determine a student's eligibility for this school year and avoid unpaid meal charges. Families should only complete and submit the Application for Free and Reduced price School Meals if you are seeking meal price benefits. If your household does not need these benefits or you are aware that you do not qualify for these benefits, then no application is required. Please refer to the Free and Reduced Information located at the Thomaston Public Schools website.

Please be assured that the traditional free, reduced, and paid meal price program will resume on December 1, 2022. Students who do not qualify for free or reduced meals will be charged for breakfast and lunch beginning on December 1, 2022. School year 2022-2023 meal pricing is: Breakfast - $2.00 (all levels), Black Rock lunch - $3.15, Thomaston Center School lunch - $3.50, Thomaston High School lunch - $3.65. The Thomaston Public Schools' policy about negative meal accounts can be found here.

To add money to your child's meal account, please download the Titan Family app. Any previous balance that your child had in PowerSchool through E-Funds was transferred to our new system, Titan,in August before school began. All cafeterias also accept cash or check made out to Thomaston Food Services.

Free meals will no longer be available to students beginning on December 1, 2022 unless your household is eligible for a free or reduced meal price.
