GIRLS TENNIS

The Golden Bears (1-2) picked up four wins and a doubles forfeit against the Yellowjackets in Winsted.  Winning singles matches for Thomaston were Emily Yaffe (8-6 over Kate Ellsworth at No. 1); Kayla Fitzgerald (8-4 over Lauren Joy at No. 2); and Megan Catania (8-3 over Chelsie Girolamo at No. 3). The Golden Bears also won the No. 1 doubles match behind the team of Jen Gadomski and Trisha Ubermuth (8-0 over Nikole Seiser/Lauren Stadler). Thomaston won the No. 2 doubles match by forfeit.

BOYS TENNIS

The Golden Bears (2-1) swept their singles matches on the way to a 5-0 win over the Yellowjackets in Thomaston.  Erik Gundersen (8-4 over Greg Hicks at No. 1); Alex Lee (8-4 over Jared Groth at No. 2); and Pat Capobianco (9-7 tiebreaker over Ian Ellsworth at No. 3) each won singles matches for Thomaston. The Golden Bears also picked up a victory at No. 1 doubles from the team of Mark Hamzy and Nick Ashmore (8-1 over Bryant Silverio/Billy Cheng). Thomaston won the No. 2 doubles match by forfeit. 

BASEBALL

Thomaston 6, Wolcott Tech 4: The Golden Bears topped the Wildcats in an error-filled (nine total) contest in Thomaston.  Conor Roman had three hits and two runs batted in while Eric April added two hits (triple) and an RBI for Thomaston (2-1). Nick Foschini added a triple for the Golden Bears. Gabe Russo picked up the win in relief while Nick Russo had a save.  Wolcott Tech (0-3) was led by Ryan Young, who had two hits and two RBI. Justin Vanotti added two hits and a run batted in for the Wildcats. Young took the loss for Tech.

SOFTBALL

Thomaston 22, Wolcott Tech 0 (5): The Bears scored 13 runs in the first inning on the way to a mercy rule five innings at Wolcott Tech Monday afternoon.  Thomaston pitcher Morgan Doyle and her defense held the Wildcats to one hit, while Doyle (RBI double), Jamie Quirke (RBI double) and Mykayla Pronovost (double) led a 19-hit Bear attack.  Leah Pace got the hit for Wolcott Tech, 0-3. Thomaston is 3-0.
