CHILD DEVELOPMENT

This is an excellent course to take if you are interested in working with children, especially early childhood education.The course will provide a basic background in child care and development from the prenatal to toddler age.The class will focus on the importance of the role of the caregiver and his/her effect on the development of the child.Students will have the opportunity to observe and work with children at each stage of development.Students are encouraged to take Child Development in conjunction with Advanced Child Development during their junior or senior year in order to receive Tech Prep credit.

ADVANCED CHILD DEVELOPMENT    

This half-year course is open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have had Child Development, and will continue the study of childcare and development with emphasis on the preschool and school aged child. Students will have the opportunity to work with children in the classroom as well as in the preschool and elementary school. This course must be taken following child development in the same school year.
