The purpose of this course is to further develop the student's ability to write and speak effectively and to broaden his/her appreciation of literature through the reading and discussion of novels, short stories, poetry and drama. At least four major works from the list below will be studied and book reports may be presented in addition to summer reading reports. Grammar, vocabulary and spelling skills will be strengthened.
